Letter to J. F. McLennan November 4, 1863

John Inglis, Lord Glencourse (1810-1891), was a politician, university reformer and judge. In this letter he writes to J. F. McLennan about a book McLennan has sent him. Inglis notes that the book was published without permission of the author, George Lockhart of Carnwath (1681?-1731), and recommends the reprint of the material in the Lockhart papers which were published in 1817. Inglis also remarks that Lockhart was an active Jacobite and respected by his peers.
